GANDRIA
The first village on Swiss soil is Gandria, a romantic

the lake. The access to the village is forbidden to
cars, so one has to park before going down to the village.
Its narrow, winding streets give the opportunity to
enjoy beautiful views.
LUGANO
Until 1528, when with the Treaty of Freeburg Lugano,
Mendrisio, Capolago, Riva San Vitale and Locarno were
given to the Swiss, the historical events of Lugano
were bound to the Lombard and Como ones. Lugano is one
of the main town of Canton Ticino (Italian Swiss) and
it is situated on the watershed of the lake that takes
its name. Together with the beautiful landscape and
its mild climate, Lugano gives the opportunity to enjoy
interesting cultural and artistic itineraries and international
events such as Blues and Jazz Concerts in the open air
at the Piazza del Municipio (the main square) during
summer.
Places of interest: Villa Ciani Gardens, Church of Santa
Maria degli Angeli with frescoes by Bernardino Luini,
Villa Favorita, Villa Malpensata.
How to reach Lugano from Tremezzina: By car or by bus
to Menaggio and connecting bus to Lugano.
